10th International HL7 Interoperability Conference 2009

Welcome Message

IHIC 2009 president Michio Kimura

One of the excellences of HL7 is its international activities from the beginning and for more than 15 years. Now we see many international standard activities are eventually done by almost same members of HL7 meetings. Naturally, IHIC and its long tradition are our prides.

HL7 Japan celebrated its 10-year anniversary on July 2008. We started as 7th international affiliate in 1998. Now HL7 v.2 data export is standard specification of CPOE in Japan, as government project designated it. And HL7 CDA R2 is national standard for mandated health chech-up.

In May 2009, we are proud to welcome HL7 Working Group Meeting in Kyoto, Japan. For convenience of participants, we are honored to host IHIC 2009 just before WGM, at same venue of Kyoto.

Kyoto is famous world heritage city, which celebrated its 1200th year of being a capital city foundation in 1994. On the other hand, it is modern, livable city, which is convenient from all over the world by Kansai International airport and Bullet train from Tokyo. Kyoto is also a good hub to post-modern Tokyo, even-older-capital Nara and peace-city Hiroshima.

I encourage you to extend your WGM visit few days longer to join the state-of-the-art presentations and discussions of IHIC 2009.

IHIC 2009 president

Michio Kimura, MD, PhD
